UnitedFool.com Server Migration 2009Finally, UnitedFool.com moved to the latest server. The migration process finished this afternoon and still need some server adjustments like IP resolving, etc. Another websites that currently under my responsibilty also moved to its new home.

The latest server use Apache version 2.2.9 (Unix), PHP version 5.2.9 (before 4.4.2), MySQL version 5.0.81-community (before 4.x), cPanel Build 36281, Kernel version 2.6.18-028stab062.3-ent.

So, if you got Apache default page in your browser, that’s because domain is still resolving to old IP and you would have to wait for new IP to propagate.

I hope this migration open a lot possibilities to adapt more new internet technology.

SUMMARY

  1. 12/07/2009 – Migration request to latest server sent to web hosting support
  2. 13/07/2009 – Migration started to latest server

  6. 16/07/2009 – Problem occured. All websites still getting Apache default page
  7. 16/07/2009 – Web support told me that I had a DNS-Mismatch on “esero.com”. Name servers were not correctly set on it’s DNS Zone which was causing all domains which use ns1.esero.com. and ns2.esero.com to fail. They told me to allow 2-4 hours for the DNS to propagate these changes.
  8. 16/07/2009 – Problem still occured. All websites still getting Apache default page. Web support told me that the dns zone files on NS2 are not up-to-date. They were going to force an update on them and this will fix the issue within the next few hours.
  9. 16/07/2009 – Some domain IP’s still not propagate properly. Some websites using an old IP and the other use the new one. I contacted web support and they transfer my questions to level3 department.
  10. 17/07/2009 – Level3 department told me there are some problems with the dns server. They were working to fix the fault.
  11. 18/07/2009 – Level3 department contacted me and told everything is ready. I have to wait a bit to automatically updating my dns server and sites will open in correct IP.
  12. 19/07/2009 – Check all websites IP address. Everything seems to be working fine. Migration process done! Horray!!
